I have been running with the Lifetime Fitness run club since 2014 and I have grown to love some of the regular routes that the club runs. The Guthrie loop was named when the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis was still part of the Walker Art Center. The theater moved near the Stone Arch bridge in 2006. This is an 8-mile loop with plenty of hills! You can find the Strava route here
Start at the Lifetime Fitness Center in Saint Louis Park. Run east on Cedar Lake Road toward the Cedar Lake Trail. You will cross the railroad tracks via the bridge and take the trail east towards Minneapolis. You will take the exit toward Kenwood Parkway. (The exit before you go under 394).
Go up the hill to and turn left on Kenwood Parkway and head east down the hill. Continue on Kenwood Parkway towards the sculpture garden. (You can pause your watch and look around the garden if you wish at this point)
Turn right onto Bryant Ave S. past the Walker and then right onto the Hennepin Ave. (Take the sidewalk)
Take a right on to Groveland Terrace, then the first left onto the small frontage road for Hennipen Ave, then the next immediate right onto Douglas Ave.
Follow Douglas Av to your first right onto Mount Curve Ave. (100ft). Mount Curve Ave will roll up and down through a fantastic neighborhood of mansions and large houses.
Continue on Mount for .8 miles (8 tenths of a mile) to Kenwood Parkway.
Left on Kenwood Parkway and follow Kenwood Parkway for .8 miles to West 22nd St.
Right on West 22nd Street to Thomas Ave.
Left on Thomas Ave. Follow Thomas to Sheridan Ave.
Right on Sheridan Ave South to Burnham Rd.
Follow Burnham Rd for .5 miles to Cedar Lake Parkway.
Right on Cedar Lake Parkway, follow the parkway for 1 mile to West 22st St.
Take a left on West 22st St.
Left on Ewing Rd and right on Cedar Lake Rd.
Cedar Lake road will take you back to the bridge that crosses the railroad tracks and you can then follow the path along Cedar Lake Road back to the club!
There is also a 6.4 mile Guthrie Lite Loop here
