Mark Remy’s book says “Slow? It doesn’t matter”. When I first started running I thought that running fast meant running fast every day. When I joined a run group and had access to a coach I learned that I shouldn’t run fast every day, but rather I should only spend 20% of my total time doing hard workouts. When I hired a coach they gave me specific training workouts that included warm-up (Easy), a workout (Hard), and a cool down (Easy). The other days are listed as EASY. For me easy means running slow. Running slow is relative. My coach’s slow pace is an 8 min/mile. My slow pace is 10 min/mile. Slow is relative and is set by your comfort level.
